Welcome to the Weather Feed fam. This is our first post so let’s get into it.

It got cold

Or at least for our area it did.

North Bay wind advisory: Should see peak gusts midnight-7am which will give a boost to wind chill aka "feels like" temps down into the 20s-30s tomorrow morning. Wind sheltered areas near freezing, possibly colder w/ less wind Mon night-Tue AM. Stay tuned #CAwx

Although not this cold.

Readings of minus-45 degrees in parts of the northern Intermountain West this morning.

Peter Sinks, Utah hit minus-60º! (Granted Peter Sinks is an elevated bowl-shaped depression in the mountains, and dense, cold air sinks south into the center of the bowl.) Still... yikes!

It’s so beautiful.

As Arctic air slides through and northwest winds increase, brutally cold wind chills will materialize over the Northeast tonight through Sunday.

This level of cold can be dangerous in terms of frostbite, so be sure to protect your skin!

Lucky for me though, some family members sent belated Christmas gifts so my tiny head stayed nice and warm.

Thank you, I’m very warm now.

On a serious note though, it doesn’t have to be zero degrees outside for the cold to be an issue.

Very cold nights ahead with frost and freeze warnings tonight and a freeze watch for tomorrow night. These temperatures are extremely hazardous to unsheltered populations. Protect people, pets, plants, and pipes from the cold! #cawx

This forecast

That seems like a… difficult forecast to make. It’s like someone said to the weather “You should try to make a new precipitation type” and the weather was all “Hold my beer”.

Here's the #weather snapshot for #Tuesday:
- The lead story will be the extensive and dangerous ice event with some sleet from Texas to the Tennessee and Lower Ohio Valleys
- A potent system in the Southwest will produce cold rain showers, perhaps a thunderstorm and mountain snow

More like Dropopause…

I didn’t know this could happen!

Interesting tidbit from @NWSGray – the tropopause might dip below Mt. Washington tomorrow night

That means @MWObs may briefly be located within the stratosphere 👀 #nhwx

Yes, the buzz is correct. The tropopause – the boundary between the lower atmosphere (troposphere) and the next layer (stratosphere) will fold down to about 1 mile altitude in New England.

Mt. Washington (6,288 feet) will poke into the stratosphere (and maybe smell of ozone.)
