A wintry mix
In which we love, laugh, and learn.
Let’s start by learning some stuff
Michigan, a place I know well.
Classic #icestorm unfolding in #Michigan that's left 473,000 customers currently without power.

Notice the textbook "overrunning" – warm, moist air from the south rides up and over a shallow lip of cold, dense air near the ground.
Liquid rain falls and freezes on the ground.
I know Matthew Cappucci loves waffles but he’s on a roll here.
“Weather is mood, #climate is personality” - great metaphor @MatthewCappucci @capitalweather

I’ve never mic dropped on behalf of someone but I’m about to.
Just wanted to highlight that, despite some very impressive low elevation snowfall between ~500-2000ft elevation in NorCal (and sea level along far North Coast), it didn't ultimately come close to widespread snow @ sea level in NorCal. Exactly as human forecasters predicted!#CAwx

It’s a bit late for these but if you want a few examples of the coverage before/as the storm started, here you go:
Shut up and take my money
I found a weather store. Gonna move my birthday up about 7 months this year.
4k Freddy
This thing traveled ~4,000 miles across the Indian Ocean before it hit Madagascar. If you watch the full video, there are a few other interesting facts (one of four known storms to travel from east to west across the Indian Ocean, etc.)
After a 4,000-mile-plus journey over the Indian Ocean, #TropicalCyclone #Freddy made landfall on the eastern coast of Madagascar.

Satellites from @NOAA and international partners are monitoring the storm.
